They're hired! Nine new faces join Cassons team

Nine new faces join Cassons teamLeading chartered accountants and business advisers Cassons has added nine new staff to its team as the firm continues to expand.

The new recruits have joined different departments right across the firm, adding extra support to their respective teams.

Tom Walker has joined the Audit and Accounts department as a Trainee Chartered Accountant. He recently graduated from Lancaster University with an Accounting and Finance degree. Tom, who lives in Oswaldtwistle, heard about the job through a ‘meet the employer’ event at university.

He said: “I wanted to work for a smaller firm where you can feel like you make a difference and you’re not just another employee. I love the idea of helping the clients grow year by year and supporting them through that growth and helping react to changing environments.”

Scott Booth from Blackburn, has joined Cassons as a Trainee Chartered Accountant. He has been meeting clients and preparing accounts. He said: “Cassons has a real family feel and my role is interesting and satisfying.”

Jane Hivey and Ryan Donnelly have joined the Tax team. Jane, from Oswaldtwistle, joins Cassons from RSM as a Tax Consultant. Ryan who lives in St Helens, graduated from the University of Manchester in 2016 and has been appointed as a Trainee Chartered Accountant.

Jane said: “I wanted to work for an independent firm and Cassons has a really good reputation. The ethos here is all about being proactive with clients, working closely with them to ensure their business is run in the most tax efficient way and ensuring they don’t have any unexpected tax bills.”

Ryan said: “I have been speaking to clients daily, working on their tax returns and gaining lots of experience. I’m hoping to progress within the firm and can see a clear progression route at Cassons.”

Melanie Donegan joins the Bar Department - based at Cassons Manchester office - which specialises in looking after barristers across the UK, as a Personal Tax Assistant. She was previously with KPMG where she worked for over a year as an assistant manager. Melanie, from Failsworth, said: “Cassons is very hands-on with clients, preparing tax documents, and there are lots of different tasks which makes each day interesting.” 

Rebecca Preston also joins the Bar Department as an Administrator. She currently lives in Manchester and joins us from Bannister Preston Solicitors where she worked in conveyancing.

She said: “It’s a really nice team and I’m helping set up files for new clients. There’s a lot to take in but everyone is very helpful and there’s a real family feel.”

James Brown joined Cassons straight after his A-Levels at Runshaw College. James, from Bamber Bridge, has taken up the role of Payroll Trainee. He said: “I really enjoy liaising with clients, listening to their needs and ensuring we’re providing exactly what they want. Every payroll is different, so the work is constantly challenging but learning new skills is rewarding.”

Niamh Scurr from Chorley has recently left Runshaw College and has joined the Business Support Unit as an Accounts Trainee. Niamh, who is studying for her AAT qualification, said: “I like the detail, looking for problems and finding solutions. No two clients are ever the same. Everyone has been really welcoming at Cassons and I’m looking forward to having my own workload and hopefully studying for my ACA qualification in the future.”

Maria Wren has also joined the Cassons Admin Support Team. Maria, who lives in Norden, has worked in numerous receptionist roles, including Coates Engineering, Care UK and Cobbetts solicitors.
